Mrs. Carnell Reid Garrison, age 78 of E. Spencer, NC, passed, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. She was born in Iredell County to the late Jack Stephenson, Sr., and Viola Reid Tate. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School and retired from Salisbury Rowan Schools as a School Crossing Guard.

She was a member of Word of Life Family Worship Center, where she served in numerous capacities and was a Mother of the Church. For many years, she served as a volunteer with the Rowan County Board of Elections at various voting pole locations.

She is preceded in death by brother, James Tate and sister, Ethel Tate.

Those who will forever cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Lawson N. Garrison of the home, sons, Larry, Zachary, Dwight (Kapeishe), Lance, Denny and Powell; daughters; Wylene (James), Veronica, Phyllis, Wanda and Elmira; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Service: Saturday, December 16, 2017. Visitation 12:00 p.m. Funeral-1:00 p.m. at Word of Life Family Worship Center. Dr. Martha Starks, Pastor/eulogist. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
