Mr. Charles Smith, of Salisbury, affectionately known as, "Chucky", age 53, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born, June 22, 1963, he was the son of Ms. Shirley Smith and the late Charles Woods. He attended Salisbury High School and was of the AME Zion Church faith. Charles was a passionate man, who loved his family and his friends. He was always full of jokes and laughs, earning him the nickname, "Chucky Ha, Ha. He would help anyone he could, anyway that he could. His favorite pastimes were, automotive work, going to the drag-strip and watching the "Rifleman".

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Anna Jane Woods, and sister, Roslyn Michelle Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are sons, Tremayne Bryan Smith of Washington, D.C., and Dewayne Ryan Smith of Salisbury; mother, Shirley Smith of Salisbury; sisters, Karen Smith of Salisbury, and Jacqueline Mills (Reginald) of Spencer; maternal grandmother, Louise Smith Mack of Salisbury, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.

Service: Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church. Visitation 1:00 p.m. and funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Hairston Funeral Home, Inc., is serving the Smith family. Online condolences may be sent to, hairstofh.c
