Elder Christine Glaspy Cornelius died, Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Genesis Nursing Home.  She was born on February 5, 1920 to the late William O. Glaspy and Ada Lou "Tiny" Wilson.  She was a graduate of J.C. Price High School.  She was employed and retired from Rowan Manufacturer.  Elder Cornelius was a faithful member of New Smith Chapel Pentecostal Church, where she served as an Elder, church secretary for over 50 plus years, Sunday School teacher and church mother.  She was a mentor for African American Women and church members.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, John Bell Cornelius and daughter, Sylvia Cornelius.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Retired Master Sergeant, Carlton E. Cornelius of the home; two grandchildren, Carlton E. Morehead (Francie) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Koweta Cornelius of Greensboro; four great-grandchildren, Dejanae Morehead, Sinia Cornelius, Savion McBryde, and Jonae Morehead; devoted and caring nieces, Nancy Brown Cockerham and Cathlene C. Green of Salisbury; a special nephew, Jimmy E. Brown (Sarah) of Salisbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation 2:00 p.m. and funeral 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 300 South Caldwell St., Salisbury, NC. burial will follow in New Smith Chapel Pentecostal Church cemetery.
