Obituary

Dollie Yvonne Fields Geter, 75 of Salisbury, NC, departed this life on the morning of August, 15, 2016.  She was born in Durham, NC on, June 24, 1941 to the late Harry Thomas Fields and the late Annie Ruth Fields-Ingram.  She was also preceded in death by first husband, Andrew Williams, and second husband, Singer Geter, sister, Ora Fields Singleton and brother, Hampton Carlton.

Dollie was baptized at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Durham, NC.  Upon moving to Salisbury, NC, she joined Lilly’s Chapel Holiness Church, where she was a very active participant.  After a stay in Richmond, Va., she returned to Salisbury, NC due to health issues.  At that time, she attended Dorsett Chapel UCC with family members.  She had a passion for singing and she enjoyed praising the Lord and she loved spending time with her family.

She was last employed for a number of years as a presser at various dry cleaners and took great pride in her work.

Dollie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend that will be dearly missed.

Leaving to cherish in loving memory her children; Gale Fobbs (Eric), Gary Williams (Marion), Leona Chambers (Tyrus) and Mary Brown (Ed); sisters, Ila Harriet Levesque and Sandra Fields; 11 grandchildren and a host of great-grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews and a godson, Antonio Roebuck.

Funeral service, 2:00 p.m.,Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Dorsett Chapel, UCC.  Rev. Dr. Billy Krider, eulogist.  Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park.
