Mrs. Doris Ann Weeks, age 76 of Correll St., East Spencer, departed this earthly life on, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at her residence.  She was born to the late James Gibson and Lucille Dixon Gibson on, September 20, 1939. 

Doris was formally educated in Kannapolis, NC, graduating from G.W. Carver High School in 1956.  She also graduated from La-Mae Beauty College in Winston-Salem, NC.

She began her professional career at The Centerview School Kannapolis as Assistant Dietician before moving to Cannon Mills (Plant 7) and Delta Thread.  She apprenticed at the La-Mae School in Winston-Salem, NC prior to fulfilling her dream of opening her own beauty salon.  From 1969 until God called her home, she continued to bring joy to her legions of loyal customers at her own salon while enjoying a 58 year career as a licensed beautician.  She was a member of the North Carolina State Beautician's Chapter (NCSBC) while serving as President of the Salisbury Beautician's Chapter #11 for numerous years.

She was an active member of Henderson Grove Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC.  Over the past 58 years as a member, Doris served as Chairman of the Deaconess Board, Youth Director, Assistant Youth Director, Recognition of Sick and Shut-In/Worship Service Announcements, Sunday School teacher, Director of Kitchen Committee, Transportation provider, along with various other committees.

As a volunteer at Rowan Helping Ministries, she prepared and served many meals for the homeless population of Salisbury. She was a former member of Pearl White Chapter #180, Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Christopher Darrell Weeks, brothers, Edward H. Gibson, Sr. (Lovell), Ernest Gibson, and Herbert "Bemo" Gibson.

Left to cherish fond memories of her are her husband of 58 years, Reginald C. Weeks, Sr., of the home; two sons; Reginald C. Weeks, Jr. of Salisbury and Brian A. Weeks (Lisa) of Laurel, Md., three sisters; Dorothy Braker (Lawrence) of Jersey City, NJ; Margaret G. Morrow (Jimmy) of Fayetteville, NC; and Joyce A Gibson of Kannapolis; two brothers; Willie Gibson (Lavonne) of Kannapolis and Otis Gibson (Marsha) of East Spencer, NC; six grandchildren and nine-great-grandchildren; Yulandra Weeks (Ke'Yows, Kortez, Kayden, Kamiya); Regina Weeks (G'Narius, Gerquayvius, La'Kai; Dawneisha Weeks (Nyjae'), Olivia Bethea (Ta'lon); Erin Weeks, and Kameron Weeks. Additionally, a special daughter; Barbara Winston of Wendell, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, cousins and friends.

Service will be held on, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1570 N. Long St., Spencer, NC, 28159.  Visitation 1:00 p.m.  Funeral 2:00 p.m. Rev. Perry J. Dye, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in Henderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
