Ms. Staretta Arlesia Forney, age 52 of Salisbury passed at her residence on August 1, 2017. She was born in Salisbury on January 7, 1965 to Mrs. Naomi H. Forney and the late James F. Forney, Sr. She was a graduate of East Rowan High School and Wingate University. She was currently employed with the Rowan-Salisbury School System where she taught and coached softball and track at Erwin Middle School. She was a dedicated teacher for 27 years.

Ms. Forney was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, Dunns Mountain Rd., Salisbury.

Those who shall forever cherish her memory are her mother, Mrs. Naomi Hackett Forney; sisters, Janai E. Caldwell and Patricia Forney; brothers; James F. Forney, Jr., (wife: Renee) and John M. Forney; nephews reared in the home, Antwan Caldwell and Rodreck Fleming; nephews, Jamal Forney and Jonathon Forney, niece; Jasmine Forney, and a host of other relatives, co-workers and dear friends. Service: Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Visitation: 12:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 2785 Dunns Mountain Rd., Salisbury. Pastor, Rev. Patrick Jones, officiant/eulogist. The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, Mrs. Naomi H. Forney, 805 Newsome Rd., Apt., 901, Salisbury.
