Mr. Wade Lewis Murphy age 69, son of the late Grady & Mamie Brooks Murphy was born December 22, 1946 in Charlotte, NC. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He graduated from J.H Gunn High school in Charlotte, NC, served in the Air Force & retired from the U.S Postal Services in Salisbury, NC. His devoted life also included as former Commander at the J.C Price Post #107, coaching years of AAU boys/girls basketball & DJing by the name of "DJ Wade".  

 
He is preceded in death by his four sisters Evelyn Murphy, Nellie Fair, Gwendolyn Murphy and Linda Murphy ; brother Edward Murphy

Those who will cherish his devotion are his long time significant other Ms. Wanda Hicks of the home, reared as son, Justin E. Murphy of Salisbury, NC;  reared as daughters Angela (Richard) Phifer of Salisbury, NC,and Kisha (Wellington) Gibson of Smyrna,Ga, brother, Grady F. (Gladys) Murphy of Charlotte, a very special nephew Justin (Merritt) Murphy of Charlotte, NC & niece Kenyatta Smith of Salisbury, NC, 12 grandchildren, 2 grandsons, and a host of relatives and friends. 

The family will be at the home on Monroe St for the remainder of the time. Service will be held on Tuesday, March 1 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC. Visitation at 11:30 and Funeral at 12:00 pm.
