Mr. Walter B. Hogue, age 91, of Mellon Drive, passed Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte.  Mr. Hogue was born, March 5, 1924 in Woodleaf, NC, to the late Vernon and Nancy Cuthbertson Hogue.  He attended the public schools of Rowan County. He retired from New York Hospital as a supervisor.

Mr. Hogue was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Missionary board.  He was a former member of Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Woodleaf.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eva Mae Ivery, Myrtle Baucom, Ida Sloan, and Pauline Copeland, and brothers; Charles Hogue, Ray Hogue, Willie Hogue, Van Hogue, and Ozzie Hogue.

Those who shall forever cherish his memory are his wife, Johnnie Hogue of the home; daughter, Patricia Tucker of Winston-Salem; sons, Jonathan McDaniel of Huntsville, Ala; Javaughn (Kim) McDaniel and Jermar McDaniel of New York, N.Y.; Walter R. (Andria) Hogue of Salisbury; sister, Robena Burnett of Tampa, Fla,; brother, James (Dorothy) Hogue of Lima, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Hogue, Salisbury,  seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Arrangements:  Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2015 at 12 noon and funeral service at 1 p.m., at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Clary Phelps, Pastor, Rev. Marcus Fairley, Associate Minister, Eulogist.  Burial will follow in Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery.
