John William Hawkins

Mr. John William Hawkins, Jr., age 75 exchanged his earthly life for life eternal on, Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his residence.  He was born in Rowan County on June 3, 1948 to the late John W. Hawkins and Helen Connor Hawkins.  He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1966.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Hawkins loved helping others and daily displayed a genuine love for mankind in his giving.  His presence in the Hawkinstown Community will be solely missed. 

Those who will forever cherish fond memories are his children, Marcus Roberts (Charlotte) and Aubrey Roberts (Tasha)  and Janah Belle (Jahmel), all of Charlotte, NC, sisters; Helen Hawkins, and Phyllis Hawkins both of Dayton, Ohio; Donetta Evans (Alvin), Harrisburg, NC and Beverly Hawkins, Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Service: Wednesday, January 17, 2024-2::00 p.m., visitation half hour prior to service.  St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road, Salisbury, NC.  Rev. Marcus Farley, pastor/eulogist.

Burial will be held  2:00 p.m. at the US National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd. on, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 with full military honors..
