Mrs. Addie Lucille Hairston Mayfield, age 76 of Mocksville, passed, Monday, October 29, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Davie County on, August 30, 1942 to the late Cecil Austin and Bertha Hairston Austin. She attended Davie County Training Schools. She was last employed as a laundry worker with Bermuda Commons Nursing Home. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Mayfield, Sr., whom she was married to for over 50 years.
She was a faithful member of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church, Mocksville, NC, where she served as a nurse on the nursing board, member of the praise team and church choir.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her four daughters; Lisa Hairston, Mocksville, NC, Kimberly Mutz, Salisbury, NC, Tabatha Mayfield, High Point, NC, Lakeisha Tenor Mocksville, NC, her three sons, Corey Mayfield, and Germain Mayfield, both of Mocksville, NC, and John Lewis, Jr., (Brandy), Lexington, NC, 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Lula Lane and Mary Hairston, both of Mocksville, NC; brother-in-laws, Wilton (Kimberly) Mayfield, Advance, NC, and Felton (Judy), Mayfield, Mocksville, NC; sister-in-laws, Lexuris Cline, and Overseer Ruby Howell, both of Cooleemee, NC, Olympia (Milton) Neely of Salisbury, NC and Savannah Mayfield, Mocksville, NC, mother-in-law, Lizzie M. Mayfield, Cooleemmee, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Service: November 3, 2018. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. at Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church, Mocksville, NC. Rev. Johnny Rice, Jr., pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
