Barbara Jean (Gibbs) Torrence

Mrs. Barbara Jean Gibbs Torrence, age 73 of Salisbury, passed, Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, NC.  She was born in Camden, South Carolina to the late Thomas Gibbs, Sr., and Sarah Alice Oliver Gibbs.  She attended R. A. Clement School and latter earned her GED.  She previously worked as a CNA for Brightmoor Nursing Home and her last employment was with Hampton Inn as a Housekeeper.  She was a member of Dorsett Chapel Church.

In addition to her parent's, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Torrence, Sr., brothers' Thomas Gibbs, Jr., Benjamin Gibbs and sister, Sarah Jackson.

Cherished memories remain with her son, Wilbert Torrence, Jr., (Celestine), Salisbury, brothers; Johnny Gibbs (Crystal), Charlotte, NC, Jesse Gibbs, Salisbury, NC., sisters; Annie A. Bell, Arlington, Va., Anna Graham, Salisbury, NC, Lillie Mae Ijames, East Spencer, NC, and Mary Rhodes, Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Aundrey Blakeney (Jasmine), Spencer, NC, Derrick Blakeney, Kannapolis, NC, Jermaine Torrence, Salisbury, NC and Tekia Sade Torrence, Mocksville, NC; nine great-grandchildren; "special nieces", Barbara Ann Jackson and Mary Louise Cauthen, a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial Service:  Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Dorsett Chapel United Church of Christ, Spencer, NC.  Visitation:  12:30 p.m.  Memorial Service:: 1:00 p.m.  Rev. Ricky Galloway, pastor..  Pastor Doug Collins, eulogist.
