On Thursday, June 15, at Genesis Nursing Home. Mrs. Catalina Gonzalez earned her heavenly wings and took flight to meet our heavenly father. She was born on June 24, 1923 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Bernavel DeJesus and Everista Peluyera. She was one of 16 children.

She moved to New York where she later met her husband Segundo Gonzalez and had four children, 9 grandchildren and seven great-grand children and was a foster mother to many because she had so much love to give.

Some of her favorite hobbies were cooking (she was a great cook), bargain shopping and traveling. After retiring, she moved to and resided in Salisbury, North Carolina to be closer to her family and made many close friends. Mrs. Gonzalez was a caring mother with a kind heart, loved by all.

 She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughters; Migdalia Jones (Leroy); Zully Hardaway (David); Dilian Ramos (Luis) and son, Edgar Gonzalez (Belinda). Nine grandchildren, Charisse, Shona (James), Lea, Delano (Tony), Luis, III, Melissa, Edgar (E.J.), Anthony and Rasaan, and seven great-grandchildren; Aaliyah, Elijah, Kylan, Phoebe, Elijah, Quana and Evelyn. Two sisters, Florita and Juane; a very dear sister/friend, Alcira DeLeon and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Service: Visitation-11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Funeral at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Marantha Bible Church, 2320 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28147. Elder Keith Porter, officiating/eulogist. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. David Hardaway, 400 Ashbrook Rd., Salisbury, NC.
