Doris Smyre

Mrs. Doris Smyre, age, 91 of Salisbury, quietly entered into the arms of God on, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Genesis Salisbury Center, Salisbury.  She was born, August 14, 1927 in Spencer, North Carolina to her late father, Roosevelt Williams and late mother, Lou Willie Mitchell.  She was married to the late, Charlie Smyre and also preceded in death by her brother, Luther Smith.  She was educated in the public schools of Spencer, NC and was employed as a domestic worker and cook.

She enjoyed singing and cooking and was one who was given to hospitality.  Ms. Smyre loved God and was a member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church, Salisbury, NC, where she was a "mother" of the church.  She loved her family and was known affectionately as, "Aunt" by her family and friends.

Precious memories remain with special cousin, Elder Diane Roberts and Joanne Huntley, her caretaker before going to the nursing home; son, Gary Nichols, sister-in-law, Addie Belton, and extended family and friends.

Service:  Monday, July 15, 2019 at Lilly's Chapel Church, 618 W. Thomas St., Salisbury, NC.  Visitation: 10:30 a.m.  Funeral:  11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at the US National Cemetery, 202 Government Road, Salisbury at 1:00 p.m..

Family will receive friends at the home of Elder Diane Roberts, 1305 Hollywood Dr., Spencer, NC.
