Mrs. Ingrid Yvonne Streater Witherspoon, age 68, of Salisbury, quietly returned to God on, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville. Born in Rowan County on Oct. 2, 1949, she was a daughter of the late, Walter M. Alexander, Sr., and Dora Joyce Witt Alexander. She was a graduate of J.C. Price High School, class of 1967. She later furthered her education at Livingstone College, where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2015. She also completed one year of graduate studies at Strayer University. She was last employed as a dispatcher at Livingstone College, Security Department.
She was a faithful member of Solid Rock Church of God, where she served in the Women’s Ministry, as a Vacation Bible School Teacher and enjoyed working in Community Outreach.
Cherished memories remain with her husband, Byron E. Witherspoon of the home; sons, Andrae Alexander (Joyce) of Salisbury, Rodney Streater, (Marla) of Lexington, and Brian Solomon of Spencer; daughters, Stephanie Streater McNeil, (Christopher) of Granite Quarry and Markita Hopkins of Spencer; brother, Walter Alexander, Jr., (Mary) of Granite Quarry; sisters, Angela Hunter (Arthur) of Concord, Frances Ingram, Betty Sasser, and Joyce Provoid (John) of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Equilla Scott of Concord; “best friend”, Montina Butler; Salisbury and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, co-workers and friends.
Visitation and Service: Service will be held on, Friday, May 25, 2018. Visitation, 11 a.m., memorial service, 11:30 a.m., at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Caldwell St., Salisbury, NC., Rev. Olen Bruner, pastor. Rev. Samuel A. Washington, pastor of Solid Rock Church of God, officiant/eulogist. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors and friends at the home, 221 S. West St., Salisbury, NC
