Iris Tucker

Mrs. Iris Ozell Patterson Tucker, passed away at the age of 89 on January 21, 2018, after a brief illness at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Ozell was born on October 5, 1928, in Iredell County. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Fannie Cowan Patterson. She graduated from R. A. Clement High School in 1946. Ozell worked as a spin draw at Hoechst-Celanese Corporation in Salisbury, NC until her retirement in 1988. A faithful member of Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church, USA in Cleveland, NC, she showed her love for God by being a beacon of light and inspiration to her family and community. She was one of those types that rarely met a stranger, and even when she did, they did not remain strangers for long. In addition to her parents, her husband Amos William Tucker, Sr.; her children Ruby Francis Tucker, Baby Boy Tucker, and Amos William Tucker, Jr.; her sister Linda Patterson Smith; her brothers, David Patterson, Ernest Patterson, Avery Patterson and Efford Patterson; sisters-in-law, Ethel Patterson and Nellie Patterson; brothers-in-law, Ernest Smith and Ralph Summers, Jr. and Walter Tucker all preceded Ozell in death.

Those who will forever cherish her kind spirit and giving heart are her daughters, Iris Carolyn Tucker of Salisbury, NC and Betty Jo Simonton of Mooresville, NC; plus 10 grandchildren, Tomechia Tucker of Salisbury, NC; Sheena Brown and husband Kevin of Midland, NC; Natasha Tucker of Salisbury, NC; Ebony Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; La Toya Tucker of Salisbury, NC; Phillip Tucker and wife Bethany of Salisbury, NC; Robert Simonton of Monterey, CA; David Simonton of Charlotte, NC; Marshall Simonton and Steve Tucker of Mooresville, NC; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Alice Summers of Cleveland, NC; brothers, Thomas Patterson and wife Mildred of Statesville, NC and Millard Patterson of Las Vegas, NC; sisters-in-law, Nannie Patterson of Mooresville, NC and Mary Ann Patterson of Bronx, NY; brother-in-law, Larry Fowler and wife Jennifer of Mooresville, NC; nieces, Renee Patterson of Bronx, NY; Jacqueline Brawley of Mooresville, NC; Jacqueline Patterson of Statesville, NC; Shauna Smith of Cleveland, NC; Demetrice Smith of Woodleaf, NC; Davina Patterson of Mooresville, NC; Anita and Aishah Fowler of Mooresville, NC, nephews, Fred Rankin and wife Cynthia of Cleveland, NC; Larry Patterson of East Orange, NJ; Marcus Smith and wife Asia of Cleveland, NC; Keith Summers and wife Amanda of Cleveland, NC; Dr. Deron Patterson of Mooresville, NC; Raynard Harris and wife Donna of Charlotte, NC; Larry Fowler, Jr. and Gary Fowler of Mooresville, NC along with a host of other relatives, friends and church family.

Visitation: 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), 935 Mount Tabor Church Road, Cleveland, NC. Service: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), 935 Mount Tabor Church Road, Cleveland, NC, conducted by Rev. Timothy Porter. Burial will follow services at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Cemetery in the Patterson Plot.
