James Elder Obituary

Mr. James Thomas Elder, age 80 of Salisbury, passed, Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. He was born in Rowan County on January 16, 1938 to the late James Milton Elder and Ruby Maison Elder. He was educated in the Rowan-Salisbury public schools and retired as a Merchant Marine with the Department of Labor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a lifetime member of the J.C. Price American Legion Post 107.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Curtis Elder preceded him in death.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are a sister, Jean Carol Blair, Philadelphia, Pa.,nephew, Ricky D. Blair (Connie), Philadelphia, Pa., cousins, Billy Elder (Anita), Harrisburg, NC and Yvette Elder, Charlotte, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on, Friday, February 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the US National Cemetery, Salisbury with military honors. Rev. Jerry Miller, officiating.
