Mr. Lindsay Watson, Sr., age 79, while a patient at the Glen A. Kiser Hospice House, peacefully returned to the arms of God on Friday, July 26, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born in Rowan County on September 11, 1939 to the late Arthur O. Watson and Isabelle Rice Watson. He was educated in the public schools of Rowan County. He was last employed as a “spinner” at Cone Mills.
Mr. Watson was a dedicated member of Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board, Men’s Fellowship Ministry, and was the van driver and custodian for many years. He truly loved serving his church and was very active prior to his failing health.
In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertrude Watson, and brother’s Willie Watson, James Watson, and John Watson.
Mr. Watson was cared for by his loving and dedicated children, son’s, Lindsay Watson, Jr., (Lorraine), Salisbury, Willie Watson (Zeith), Salisbury, Terry Watson, (Patricia), Salisbury, “special care” provided by this daughter’s, Angela Smith, Salisbury, Janet Ferguson, Salisbury and Linda Watson, Salisbury; a sister; Maggie Crockett, Salisbury; 11 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends.
Service: Thursday, August 1, 2019. Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., Salisbury. Elder Richard Johnson, pastor/eulogist. Visitation: 11:00 a.m.. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Salisbury.
