Peggy (Owens) Ellis

Mrs. Peggy Owens Ellis, age 68 of Salisbury, passed on, Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Kiser Hospice House. She was born in Robeson County on, September 29, 1950 to the late, Leroy R. Chishlom, Jr., and Corrine V. Owens. She attended high school at Booker T. Washington High School in New York City, and graduated from JC Price High School after returning to Salisbury. She attended the Bank Street School of Nursing in New York City. She became the first licensed med technician in Rowan County. She managed Allen Rest Home in Gastonia, NC for four years along with Rock Garden Family Care Home. She retired from Heritage Plantation. She accomplished many goals in the field of nursing and received certificates for her many achievements.

She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an assistant Sunday School teacher and member of the Pastors Aide ministry. She was also a member of the Lincoln/Dixonville Community Association, and the JC Price High School Alumni Committee.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fleming.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband, William Ellis, daughters; Teresa O. Crosby (Joe), and Angela Owens (Murdock), sons; Ervin L. Owens, (Otila) and Harvey O'Neal Dukes, sisters; Beverly Snow, Rebecca Wise and Bobbie Seabrook; uncles, Jimmy L. Owens and David Martin; aunts, Peggy Lorthrop (Ray), and Juanita Rodgers; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; special cousins; Nancy McKenize, Marilyn Bowman, Margaret Ritter and Glenda Nock; special children, Willette, Vicky, Levoric; special nieces, Ladephia, Lanquea, Raven, Shana, Terrell and Toni; very, very special friends, Debra Pearson, Ola Mae Robbins, Tammy Brown and Crystal Green.

Service: Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken, pastor/eulogist.
