Mr. Rodney Darnell Cherry, age 52 of Salisbury, passed, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Kiser Hospice House.  He was born in Rowan County on May 31, 1965 to Mrs. Patricia Whisonant Cherry and the late John Marion Cherry.  He was educated in the Salisbury Rowan public schools.  He was last employed in the culinary department at Livingstone College.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by brothers; Jerry Whisonant, Willie Cherry, Michael Whisonant and sisters; Dianne Archie, Judy Mae Archie and Bevely Whisonant.

Those who will forever cherish his memory are his mother, Mrs. Patricia Cherry, Salisbury, sons, Antionne N. Cherry, Salisbury, Rodney Allen, Greensboro, and Anthony Pharr, Greensboro; daughters; Lamonday Allen and Danielle Allen, both of Salisbury; brothers; Timothy Whisonant (Angela), Johnny Cherry (Lisa), Brian Cherry all of Salisbury, Minister Robert "Bay" Archie (Bishop Carolyn Archie), Salisbury and Charles Cherry, East Spencer; sisters; Traci Whisonant, Jackie Cherry (Franklin "J.B. Davis, Jr.) and Sarah Etheridge (Donnie) all of Salisbury; 5 grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Service: Saturday, January 13, 2018.  Visitation:  1:00 p.m.. Funeral : 1:30 p.m. at Outreach Christian Ministries.  Pastor Bradley Taylor, eulogist.  Burial will follow in Byers Cemetery.  Hairston Funeral Home, Inc., is serving the Cherry family.
