Mr. Zelma Eugene Hill, age 85 of Salisbury, passed, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home. He was born in Davie County on, March 20, 1932 to the late Matthew HIll and Mamie Lucille Sanders Hill. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School. His last employment was with Bendix as a material handler and Southern Railroad as a mail handler. He previously attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Salisbury. He was an active member of the Dunbar Class Reunion and served as a committee member. He was also a member of Western Star Lodge #9 of Salisbury.
In addition to his parents, his wife Frances Parker Hill, sister, Frances Sorocki, brothers, Johnny Hill and Rufus Sanders preceded him in death.
Those who remain to cherish fond memories are his sons; Dennis Hill (Brenda), Bengey Hill (Frances) and Anthony HIll (Keisha) all of Salisbury; daughters; Thelma Watkins and Priscilla Hill (Gary) both of Salisbury; brother; Luther HIll and sister Patricia Hill both of Salisbury; step-children; Mike Marlin, Ingrid Clayton (Ted), and Venita A. Peck (Greg) all of Salisbury; ten grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Service: Visitation: 12:00 p.m. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., Salisbury. Rev. Dr. William Cowan, eulogist. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the US National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd., with military honors.
