Mr. Albert "Shug" Ruff, Jr., age 67, of 403 Troutman Rd., Granite Quarry, NC passed Wednesday. He was born November 30, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Albert & Bessie Glover Ruff, Sr. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and recieved his BA degree in Sociology from Livingstone College. Mr. Ruff was Assistant Director with the Salisbury Rowan Community Service Council. He attended Antioch Baptist Church, Granite Quarry, NC. He was a member of the IRA Golf Association. He was the 2008 NAACP Man of the Year Recipent. He recieved numerous awards.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara Sifford Ruff of the home; sons, Albert Wayne Ruff (Laletta), Dallas, TX and Myron J. Ruff (Michelle), Granite Quarry, NC; daughters, Tatia Ruff-Seward (Charles) and Sherby Ruff Hudson both of Salisbury, NC; sisters, Ann Kearns, Baltimore, MD and Donna Smith, Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Louise Williams, Salisbury, NC, eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm and visitation 12:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church, Granite Quarry, NC with the pastor, Rev. Ricky Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
