Mrs. Barbara Ruth Bonner Simmon was born in Lumberton, NC on August 18, 1953 to Willie McAllister and Ruth Bonner and the late Cephus Bonner.
She graduated from Woodbridge High School adn the Middlesex County School of Nursing as an LPN and worked in the nursing field for 25 years.
Barbara was a former member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ in Perth Amboy, NJ. Barbara and her family relocated to Salisbury, NC in November of 1999 and became a member of Refuge Church of God in Christ, Salisbury, NC.
She is survived by her husband, Julian A. Simmon, Sr.; her children, Archel Simmon Bonner, Julian A. Simmon, II (Donna) of Salisbury, NC and Ambrosine V. Simmon, Brooklyn, NY; her father, Willie McAllister of Hamer, SC and mother, Ruth Bonner of Keasbey, NJ; sisters, Denise Bonner, Keasbey, NJ, Queen Ester McAllister, Dillon, SC, Denalee Bayler, Mt. Airy, NC and Charlene Brandon, South Amboy, NJ; brothers, Keith Bonner, Morristown, NJ, Arthur and Chester McAllister, Dillon, SC; uncles, Robert Thompson (Vivian), Edison, NJ, Robert (Annie Mae) McAllister, Dillon, SC, aunts, Pearline Thompson, Decatur, GA, Jessie Thompson, Lumberton, NC, Annie Mae (Robert A.) Mcallister; a great aunt, Agnas Jacobs, Fayetteville, NC; mother-in-law, Ambrosine Julion, Salisbury, NC; special nephew, Keith and Darell; niece, Tinisha Bonner, Rahway, NJ; six grandchildern, twelve God children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service 2:00 pm Saturday at Refuge Church of God of in Christ, Short Street, Salisbury, NC with the Pastor Stanley Wright, Officiating. Visitation will be Friday at 7:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
