Beatrice Strickland Phillips

Mrs. Beatrice Strickland Phillips, age 83, of 1341 W. Standish St., died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Phillips was born March 12, 1925, in Stanly County to the late Dan Bennett and Idella Woodley Siler.

She was educated in the Rowan County Public Schools and retired from Rowan Manufacturing as a Seamstress. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Henderson Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, member of the Pastor's Aid Society, Kitchen Committee, Gospel and Mass Choirs, The Paulette R. Mangham Missionary Circle Circle and an avid participant in the Prayer Service and Bible Study Group. She will always be remembered for her love and support of family, her pastor, Rev. Rodney Eldridge and her church family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Phillips, Sr., and son David Phillips.

Those who will forever cherish her memory are sons, Robert L. "Bob" Phillips (Linda) of Plymouth, Minn., John T. Phillips, Sr. (Judy)of Salisbury; a daughter, Geraldine Miller, East Spencer; sisters; Lucille Bennett Moore (Steve) and Madaglene Campbell, both of Troy; Tea Little, Albemarel; 11 grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Service and Burial: 12:30 p.m., Monday, at Henderson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Eldridge, Pastor. Burial will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery, Salisbury.

Visitation: 12 p.m. Monday at the church. The family will meet at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Phillips, 355 Kelly Dr., Salisbury.
