Mr. Bruce Benjamin Blackwell, age 79, of 280 Hope Hill Rd., Salisbury passed Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Blackwell was born May 2, 1930 in Salisbury to the late William and Maggie Luckey Blackwell.

He was educated in the public schools of Rowan County. He retired from the Rowan County Public Schools.

Mr. Blackwell was a member of Hurley School Road Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Davis Blackwell of the home; son, Tim Blackwell (Rochal), Salisbury; sister, Ruth Laney (Bobby), Spencer, NC; granddaughter, Daniele Moore (Danny), Greensboro, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial service 1:00 pm Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Hurley School Road Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses with Brother Sam Lowry, officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Tim Blackwell (Rochal) of 240 Hope Hill Rd., Salisbury, NC.
