SALISBURY - Chance Bashan Ponder, 16, of 3121 Hodge St., died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

He was born April 8, 1991, in Salisbury to Phyllis Ponder Duren and Brian Keith Duren of Salisbury. He was a student at Salisbury High School and a member of God's Tabernacle for Believers, Rockwell.

Survivors are parents Phyllis Ponder Duren and Brian Keith Duren of the home; sister Regina Ponder, Salisbury; maternal grandfather John Bryant, Salisbury; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special family, the Ewart family of Faith.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at God's Tabernacle for Believers, Rockwell, with the pastor, Rev. Reginald McConneaughey, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Salisbury.

Visitation: Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
