Charisse Jones

Ms. Charisse Jones, age 48 of Salisbury, passed at her residence on, Tuesday, May 7, 2019. 

Charisse Jones was born on March 22, 1971 to Leroy and Migdalia Jones in Brooklyn, New York.   Charisse was a very spiritual person and accepted Christ at a very young age. She received her heavenly wings on May 7, 2019.

Charisse was educated in the NYC public school system. She attended P.S. 287 for elementary school, Satellite IV J.H.S., Telecommunication, Arts and Technology (TAT) High School and Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) where she received an Associate’s degree in communications.  She was an avid music lover, loved singing, dancing and anything that allowed her to show her creativity.

While attending T.A.T she channeled that passion and obtained a scholarship to a collegiate summer program in Buffalo, N.Y.,    affording her an opportunity to showcase her talents and learn essential skills in her dream career of choice.  With her attendance to this program she learned the core essentials to script writing, casting, editing and producing.  This enabled her to write and produce her first short film which she was very proud of.  As the years went on, her creativity extended into art, poetry, song writing, painting, doll making and various other crafts.   She had even received offers to commission her work.

Charisse was a free spirit that walked to the beat of her own drum. She loved long walks to the Brooklyn Promenade, spending time at the South Street Sea Port and taking in all that NYC had offer.

In 2004 Charisse relocated to North Carolina to join her family. Where she became a home owner and gained employment at Piedmont Correctional Facilities and remained employed until 2017 when she retired due to her declining health.

She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Jones, paternal Grandparents Roy and Jessie Mae Jones, maternal Grandparents Segundo and Catalina Gonzalez and her fur-baby Jada Jones.  She leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving mother Migdalia Jones; sisters Shona Jones – Mosley (Brother in-law James Mosley), Lea Jones. Aunts Zully Hardaway (David), Dillian Ramos (Luis), Diane Grant (Harrison) Randa Coleman (Reginald). Uncles Jerome Jones (Georgette), Kenneth Jones, Edgar Gonzalez (Belinda), beloved cousins and a host of other relatives and friends; as well cherished, life-long friends and honorary family members Yvette Peace, David Brandt and Cheryl Hemmings.
