Mr. Collie Hairston, Jr., was born April 23, 1939 in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late Collie Hairston, Sr., and Eula Mae Hairston. He departed this life on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Brian Center Nursing Care, Lexington, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charming H. Nelson. He attended the public schools of Camden County, New Jersey and was last employed with Lexington Home Brands Furniture Company. He was a member of the Buncombe Baptist Church and the National Hairston Clan.

He is survived by three sisters, Ethel Yvonne M. Hicks, Camden, NJ, Colletta (Albert) Pierce, Richardson, Tx., and Charline H. Muhammad, Los Angeles, Ca.; brother-in-law, Earl Nelson, Philadelphia, Pa.; three uncles, three aunts, devoted cousin and best friend, Roger Hairston, cousin and care taker, Armie Bush and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Buncombe Baptist Church, Lexington, NC. Rev. Claude Forehand, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Jimmy & Mary K. Hairston, 404 Frank Hulin Road, Lexington, NC.
