Corey Corde' Sims age 14, died unexpectedly on August 12, 2023 in Lexington, North Carolina. He was born in Rowan County on July 11, 2009 to his parents, Corey Sims and Lakia Hargrave. Corey attended Walkertown Middle School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He previously played football with AAU.
A paternal grandmother, Stephanie Sims and an uncle, Antonio Lee, preceded him in death.
Those who will forever cherish fond memories of Corey are his father, Corey Sims, Statesville, NC, and mother, Lakia Hargrave, Lexington, NC; maternal parents, Karen Hargrave (Jarius Foster), Lexington, NC and Tony Lee, (April), Salisbury, NC; brothers, Coryion Sims, Lexington, NC; Mekhi Kennedy, Granite Quarry, NC, and Keshawn Lancaster, Atlanta, Ga., sisters, Liberty Hargrave, Lexington, NC and Ja'lajiah Owens; Lexington, NC, best friend/cousin Ke'Siya Oglesby and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Service: Saturday, August 26, 2023-Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Boyden Quarters, 1765 White Road, Mt. Ulla, NC. Visitation: 1:00 p.m.-Funeral:1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Alice Perry, eulogist/officiant.
1 hour public viewing at the funeral home: 6:00 pm.-7:00 p.m.-Friday, August 25, 2023.
