Delette (Thompson) Lewis

Delette Thompson Lewis, 69, passed away on November 13th at 2:48 AM. Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, she lived a life filled with warmth, joy, and unmistakable light. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and community.

A gifted public speaker through her years with Toastmasters, Delette had a natural ability to connect with people. She was cherished not only for her words, but for her spirit and love for life. She was passionate about music and could dance for hours, filling any room with energy and laughter. Professionally, she spent 44 years as a respected and admired member of American Security Insurance Company, retiring as a manager in 2021.

Delette is survived by her devoted husband, Armond Lewis; her daughters, Desere Wolfe and Demitra Lewis; and her beloved granddaughter and best friend, Delette "Letty" Lewis, who carries her name and her joy forward. The bond she shared with her daughters and granddaughter was profound and unwavering.

She lit up every room she entered, and people were naturally drawn to her calm and joyful presence. She will be deeply missed by the many fortunate enough to have known her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at 12:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 South Caldwell Street, Salisbury, NC, followed by interment at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Road, Salisbury, NC  28144.

In honor of her vibrant spirit, the family encourages attendees to wear something red.

A celebration of life will also be held on Friday at 6:00 PM in Atlanta, with the venue to be announced.

Delette Thompson Lewis will be forever remembered for her love, her laughter, and the joy she brought into the world.
