Doretha Knox Moore of Augusta, GA entered into rest Saturday, August 20, 2016, at The Place at Dean Bridge Road.  She was born on September 25, 1934 to the late Enoch and Erma Fleming Knox.  In addition to her parent's she is preceded in death by a sister, Glendora Knox Stafford; and, three of her children, Jerry L.Moore (MIA), James C. Moore, and Wayne W. Moore.

She was a native of North Carolina, a graduate of Price High School, and went two years at Rowan Technical College and received her Licensed Practical Nurse's Certificate.  She was a retiree from W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center after 30 years, Salisbury, NC.She also worked as a Nursing Assistant at Rowan Memorial Hospital for five years.

At a very early age, she joined Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, NC.  She later joined Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Salisbury, NC and served there faithfully until her health began to fail.

She was a "Gold Star Mother" (Son Missing in Action), a member of the Eastern Star and J.C. Price Ladie's Auxillary.

Survivors are five children, John E. Moore (Nan), Gold Hill, NC; William R. Moore, Winston-Salem, NC; Shirley M. Lewis, Augusta, GA; Michelle L. Carter, Washington, DC and Kelvin Lofton, Chattanooga, TN; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Moore, Salisbury, NC; sisters, Irene E. Mazone and Eleanor P. Carr, Augusta, GA; and, Sister-in-Law, Rebecca Ellis Moore, Philadelphia, PA.  She had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, NC with Rev. Dr. Victor R. Thomas, Augusta, GA officiating.  Committal will be at Rowan Memorial Park.

The family will assemble at the home of Barbara Moore, 208 Green Gable Lane, Salisbury, NC.
