Mrs. Dorothy Henderson Colbert, age 78, daughter of the late Elizabeth Henderson and James Patton was born November 26, 1931 in Rowan County of the Dorsett Town Community. On Tuesday, January 26, 2010, Mrs. Colbert entered the Celestial city of God.

Mrs. Colbert was a graduate of Dunbar High School. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon.

She and her husband, Leroy Colbert, Jr. was owner and operator of Colbert's Inc. Their children still operate the family business.

Mrs. Colbert was a active member and faithful member of Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Salisbury. She was an member of the Usher Board, Parent Body Missionary, Lay Council, Life Members Council and WHOM.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Leroy Colbert, Jr., also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Colbert's memory shall forever be cherished by her son, Leroy Colbert, III (Jenise), Salisbury, NC; daughters, Deborah Colbert, Salisbury, NC, Lydia Young (Edward), Greensboro, NC, Lorraine Miller, Hampton, VA and Candice Colbert, Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Alicia Sharp (Jim), deidre Young, Lanard Colbert, Camille Miller, Kayla Miller, Tim Turner, Bridget Cornelius, Ryan Young; great grandchildren, Jaiden Colbert,Olivia Sharp, Joshua Sharp, Sofia Sharp, Tamia turner Kyambria and Katiana Cornelius, and Solomon Young; three loving sisters-in-law, Enda Henderson, Neal Henderson and Norma Henderson; a host of nieces, nephews, and a abundance of special friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am and visitation 10:00 am Friday, January 29, 2010 at Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Salisbury with the Pastor, Rev. Carolyn Bratton, officiating. Burial will be the US National Cemetery.
