Mr. Edward Reason Holmes of 255 Timber Ridge, Salisbury, NC, died May 10, 2008 at his residence. He was born January 10, 1942 in Rowan County, NC to the late Edward Clifton Augustus Holmes and Geneva Brown Holmes.
He graduated from Dunbar High School, East Spencer, NC. He was a U.S. Army Veteran (Vietnam), and was a Service Manager of Avis Rental Car in Jamaica Queens, NY where he later retired. He was a member of Yadkin Grove Baptist Church where he was a Trustee and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Holmes was also a campaign volunteer for the Obama campaign as well as politically active in his community. He was one of the organizers of the Five Row Reunion.
Those who will cherish his memory are his sisters Mammie Teasley, Salisbury, NC, and Genester H. Banks, Baltimore, MD; uncles James Brown, Heathsville, VA, and Willie Frank Brown, Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30am. Visitation will be at 11:00am at Yadkin Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Rev. Paul Rhinehart officiating, burial will be at Church Cemetary. Military rites by the Salisbury Rowan Honor Guard.
The family shall be at the home of a sister, Mrs. Mammie H. Teasley of 2620 Grubb Ferry Rd., Spencer Forest Community, Salisbury, NC.
