Mrs. Elaine C. Mills age 75 of 713 Pinehurst St., Salisbury, passed, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. She was born, January 18, 1941 in Rowan County to the late Viziner Rippy Connor and Howard Clinton Connor. She was preceded in death by her husband Nasby J. Mills, Sr., a son, Weldon Gray Mills and a brother, William Earl Conner.

Mrs. Mills was a graduate of Price High School and Livingstone College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She worked throughout the Rowan County School System as a teacher. She was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist church, where she served as a former Missionary, sang in the Gospel and Senior Choirs, and served on the Building Committee and Vacation Bible School.

She loved to watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and she was a Panther and Redskin fan from her heart.

She is survived by her children, Pastor Nasby Mills, Jr.,(Sheila), Reginald Karl Mills (Jacqueline) and Charles Warren Mills (Lelisa); 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a faithful family daughter, J. Francis King; brothers, Larry J. Connor (Estelle), and Michael Rustin; a sister, Carolyn Keah; an uncle Emmett Rippy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: 12:00 p.m. and Service: 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Dr. Clary L. Phelps, pastor/eulogist and Rev. Ruby Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
