Eva Jones Obituary

On the early morning of, June 6, 2019, Mrs. Eva Mae Jones quietly earned her heavenly wings to be with our Lord.  She was blessed to live a long life of 99 years.  She was affectionately called, “EvMae”.

She was born in Charlotte, NC county of Mecklenburg on May 12, 1920 to the late, William Harrison and Annie McClarity Harrison.  She was educated in the schools of Mecklenburg County, having completed the 12th grade.  She was last employed as a jeweler at Rhinestone Jewelry Store in New York.  She was privileged to work with the designer; Albert Weiss; displaying jewels worn by affluent individuals and even the actors on the Jackie Gleason Show in the early, 50’s, including dressing the June Taylor Dancers.

She was the wife of the late Louis Jones.  She was also preceded in death by her son; Ralph Keaton; sister, Margaret L. Turner and other siblings who passed years ago.

She resided in New York for many years before making her home in Salisbury, where she received constant care and love from her nephew and wife, Rev. & Mrs. Louis Turner, and other special neighbors, who helped to look after her.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at a very early age.  She was a dedicated member of First Calvary Baptist Church for the majority of her lifetime.  She dearly loved her pastor, Rev. Leamon Brown.  She sang in the choir, was a missionary, served with the culinary ministry, the Koinia ministry and taught Sunday school; all of which she gave total commitment.  She was one of the jeweled mothers of the church and a true prayer warrior.

Those who remain to cherish her “long life” of giving and encouragement are, her dedicated nephew and his wife, Rev. & Mrs. Louis Turner, Salisbury; nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews, Garfield, Charlotte, Shemeka, Marcella, Audrey, Steven, Louis, Jr., Shelia, Erika, Corletta, Brandon, Terrell, Mausia, Brooks, Sharon and Mary; a goddaughter, other family and friends.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2019. First Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Leamon Brown Pastor.  Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
