Gail Bonita (Reid) Yon

Mrs. Gail Reid-Yon age 66 of Salisbury, passed on, Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. She was born in Rowan County on, July 5, 1951 to the late Arthur Coolidge Reid and Willow Donaldson Reid. She was a graduate of Salisbury High School and North Carolina Central University. She was employed with Sun Trust Bank as a Customer Representative and had previously worked with the Fair Housing Counsel in New Jersey.

She was a member of Soldiers A.M.E. Zion Church, where she had served on the Senior Choir, the Missionary Society, Lay Council and the church finance committee. She was also a member of Jack & Jill of America and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Cherished memories remain with her husband, Larry D. Yon, Sr., of the home, son, Larry D. Yon, II and his wife, Cheron, of Durham; brother, Gregory A. Reid and his wife Sherry of Charlotte; grandchildren; Kennedy Yon, Karson Yon and Larry Yon,III; uncles; Lovie Reid, Granite Quarry and Albert Reid, Columbia, SC; sister-in-laws Laura Leslie and Savannah Robinson both of Raleigh, Lois Pelzer and her husband Andrew and Ella Sharpless all of Garner, and Sherry Reid of Charlotte; brother-in-laws, John Yon, Durham and Percy and his wife Tine of Raleigh; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Saundra Martin.

Service: Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Soldiers A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation-12:00 noon followed by funeral at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. Derrick R. Anderson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park. There will be no public viewing on Friday, March 2, 2018.
