Deacon George Melvin McGee, a native of Salisbury, passed away on April 27, 2023 at the Willow Ridge Memory Care Charlotte NC. Deacon George McGee was born in Oconee SC. and was raised in Salisbury NC where he graduated from Price High School. His parents were the late Ada Davis McGee and JB McGee.
George was a jack of all trades. He could do anything he put his mind to. After high school he was a Golden Glove Boxer and there after he went into the Air Force where he was Para Shooter. After serving in the military, he went to a Tech School for HVAC and worked for Salisbury Housing Authority. Sometime later he started his own business, McGee and Son Appliance Service, where he and Melvin his first son worked together. His last business was Company Landscaping. He was a Peace officer and Driver for the United House of Prayer for All People where he worked under Sweet Daddy McCullough and Sweet Daddy Madison. He also played on the Thunder birds NY Mother House & Salisbury Band where he played the Bass Horn. He said he played so hard one night that his front tooth came out and he continued to play. He was also a Deacon and a Choir Member in the United House of Prayer in Salisbury NC. He was a strong man and gave his life to the Almighty God and he preached to everyone he knew to get saved and go to the House of Prayer. He went on and on.
He wanted all of his children and grandchildren to work out their soul salvation. George left us with a lot of memories and love. He loved to laugh and tell tall tales in his last days. He loved putting on big shouts and he talked a lot about his boat (ship) and his money and his children. These are some memories we shall cherish forever. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
