Mr. Israel Joseph "Joey" Moore, age 54, of 635 S. Caldwell St., Salisbury, slipped into eternal rest on October 17, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Gastonia, NC on July 17, 1953 to Mary Charles Moore-Adams and the late Tracy Hardin Moore.

Mr. Moore was educated at Roosevelt School in Clover, SC and later matriculated in the public schools of Gaston County, where he graduated from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia. He furthered his education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC, where he was a proud member of the Golden Bulls Marching Band, and later joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served admirably and was honorably discharged.

Mr. Moore was employed with American Security assigned to the United Parcel Service in Charlotte, and previously worked as a police officer at the W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Mr. Moore was a former member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Moore are sons, Israel Joseph Moore, Jr., and Timothy Isaiah Moore, both of Salisbury; mother, Mrs. Mary Charles Moore-Adams of Salisbury; four brothers, Dr. Thomas Lewis Moore of Charlotte; Rev. Dr. Tracy Tyrone Moore (Sharon) of Cincinnati, OH; Mr. Henry Aaron Moore of Sitka, Alaska and Mr. Harold Jeffrey Moore of Spencer; one sister, Ms. Mary Michelle Moore; a step-daughter, Aynjal Brisboise, devoted aunts, Mrs. Wilma C. Walker, Charlotte; Mrs. Sarah C. Stowe (Rev. James Stowe), Salisbury; and Mrs. Gwendolyn C. Plummer, Salisbury; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., Salisbury, with Rev. Dr. Clary Phelps officiating and Rev. Jessie Keaton as Eulogist. Military rites will follow the service at the U.S. National Cemetery on Brenner Ave., Salisbury.
