Mr. James Spencer "Nick" Hargrave, age 77, of 414 Best Street passed Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the NC State Veteran's Home, Salisbury.

Mr. Hargrave was born April 25, 1932 in Salisbury to the late Theodore and Willie Mae Johnson Hargrave.

Mr. Hargrave was a graduate of J. C. Price High School. He was a self employed carpenter.

A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist church.

Sisters and brothers who preceded Mr. Hargrave in death are Mae Troy James, Theodoisa Whitener, Annie Mae Sturdivant, Nancy Ruth Bailey, Josephine Carter, Raymond Hargrave, John Lewis Hargrave and Richard Hargrave.

Those who shall cherish her memory is his wife, Pauline Archie Hargrave of the home; sons, Kevin Hargrave, Enterpise, AL, Brian Hargrave and Michael Hargrave both of Salisbury, Jeffrey Hargrave, NY, NY, James Hall, Gastonia, NC, John Hall, MD and Kelvin Hargrave, Detroit, MI; daughters, Yvette Bates (Pastor Timothy Bates) both of Salisbury; brothers, George Hargrave (Ida)and William Hargrave (Louise) both of Salisbury; sisters, Carrie Hargrave, Salisbury and Jeannette Hargrave, Brooklyn, NY; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, couins and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:30 pm and visitation 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Nilous Avery, Officiating. Burial with military rites will in the US National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Susan Glover of 356 Grove Street, Salisbury.
