John Bennie "J.B." Jarels, On Thursday, March 13, 2008, God dispatched an angel to Lexington Memorial Hospital to bring Deacon John Bennie Jarels home for eternal rest to suffer no more.
John Bennie "J.B" was born July 23, 1923 in Decatur, GA to the late Sandy and Lillie Evans Jarels. He attended the public schools of Redland, NC. He retired from Dixie Furniture Company after 40 years of service. After retiring, Deacon Jarels drove the school bus for North Davidson, which he dearly loved.
He was a formr member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and later joined Buncombe Baptist Church, where he served as a devoted deacon for over 30 years. You could always depend on seeing him sitting in the Deacon's corner on the second peew. He was a member of ACACIA Lodge #66, Lexington, NC.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Peebles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eulaler Jarels of the home; sons, Benjamin F. Ijames and Lafonzo (Diane) Hairston both of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Ruby (James) Rucker, Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Henry J. (Margie) Jarels, Texas; three grandchildren, Patrice Michael, Maryland, Marcus Moore, Thomasville, NC and Shavonne Hairston, Winston-Salem, NC; one brother-in-law, Verdeen (Genolia) Hairston, Lexington, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Funeral 2:00 pm and Visitation 1:30 pm Monday at Buncombe Baptist Church, Lexington, NC with the Pastor, Rev. Claude Forehand,II, Officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Lexington, NC.
