Mrs. Katie Mae Taylor Barger, affectionately called "Kate" age 89, of 637 Linn Lane, Salisbury died Monday, December 1, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Barger was the daughter of the late John L. and Roxie Hairston Taylor. She was educated in the public schools of Rowan County.
She was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barger is preceded in death by her husband, Alphonsus Clement Barger, son, Alvin Barger, daughter, Judy Barger, brothers, John Taylor, Lee Taylor and Andrew Taylor, sister, Ruth Taylor, grandchildren, Phyllis Barger, Christopher McCombs and Taiylor Barger.
Those who survive are daughters, Betty McGee (James), Mildred "Millie" B. Gwyn (Don) and Beverly Barger Lomax all of Salisbury, NC and Brenda B. Miller (James), Cleveland, NC; brother, Thomas L. Taylor, Philadelphia, PA; twelve grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2:30 pm at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Clary Phelps, officiating. Visitation will be Sunday at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
