Ms. Laura Lizzie Hairston, age 75 of 420 North Boundary St., East Spencer, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was born on in Rowan County on August 13, 1934 to the late Mamie Hairston Archie and Erastus Nathaniel Clinding. Ms. Hairston was educated in the Rowan County Public Schools. She was a long-time employee at Rowan Regional Medical Center, where she was a cook. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, East Spencer, NC.

Those who will forever cherish her memory are siblings, Rascene (Larry) Padgett, Kentucky; Gail (Reginald) Clement, China Grove; Barbara J. Hairston, Spencer, Emma (Bernard)Hunter, Salisbury, Harvey (Mary) Archie, Sr., Salisbury, Hazel Chambers, Salisbury, Reverend Ruby Steele, Spencer; Deliliah (Graylin) Blackwell, Gary "Bubba" Clinding, and Audrey Clinding, all of Salisbury; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Service: Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Jerusalem Baptist Church, Rev. David Bracken, Pastor officating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. The family will receive visitors at the residence of her sister, Reverend Ruby Steele, 1016 N. Salisbury Avenue, Spencer.
