Lola Mae Newsome

Mrs. Lola Mae Newsome, age 76 of Mocksville, passed, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at her home.  She was born September 6, 1944, the daughter of the late Annell Wood Watkins and Boyd Watkins. She is a graduate of Davie County High School and previously worked at Cannon Mills as a machine operator.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Ramond Sloan, daughter  Michaela Sloan, two brothers; Jerry and Edward Watkins and a sister, Genell Carter.

Mrs. Newsome is survived by her loving husband of 44 years; Pastor Stedman Newsome, one son Stephen Newsome, New Jersey;  three daughters, Tasha Godfrey, Statesville,  Loretta Wilson, and Arlene Allen, both of  Mocksville; a devoted god-daughter Shirley Sellers, Mocksville; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A walk through viewing will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 2:30 - 4 at the funeral home.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm. at Rose Cemetery, 200 Cemetery Street, Mocksville, NC, with Pastor Rodney Barker, Officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.hairstonfh.com. 

Due to COVID-19, the family will follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for wearing face covering in public settings and social distancing. Hairston Funeral Home, located at 703 S. Main Street, Salisbury, NC  28144 is serving the Newsome family..
