Mrs. Lorene Partee Russell, age 97, of Linda Ave, Kannapolis, NC was born February 12, 1921.  She was one of 12 children born to the late Charlie G and Amanda G. Partee. Mrs. Russell departed this life at 9:00 pm, Thursday March 8th at Tucker Hospice House -Concord,NC, having been in declining health for a while and seriously ill for 2 days.

Mrs. Russell was a graduate of Aggrey Memorial High School in Landis, NC. She joined Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church at an early age. After meeting the "Love of her Life"--Melton  Russell, who preceeded her in death, they moved to New York City and became members of Mother Zion AME Zion Church.  After 40 years in New York, they returned to North Carolina and rejoined Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church. "Ms. Renee", as she was known, became active in several organizations. She was a member of Parent Body Missionary, Stewardess Board #1, Lay Council, Life Members and the Deaconess Board.

 Mrs. Russell was also preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers. Left to cherish her memories are a stepson, Darnell (Keith) Russell of East Spencer, one sister, Ollie York of Landis, two sister-in-law, Lila J Partee of Landis, Arnetta Long of Kannapolis, three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Service will be held on, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Sandy Ridge A.M.E. Zion Church, Landis, NC.  Visitation: 11:30 am and Funeral: 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Rev. Clarence J. Shufford, Jr., pastor/officiating.
