Mamie Hairston Archie Obituary

Mrs. Mamie Hairston Archie, daughter of the late Charlie "Pop" and Lizzie Trueblood Hairston, was born on June 13, 1917. She departed this life on March 15, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Archie attended the Rowan County Public Schools. She retired from Henry Link Furniture Company in Lexington, NC.

A member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, she was the "Mother of the Church" and a member of the Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Rayfield "Rube" Archie; sisters and brothers which includes, sister, Rebecca "Sister" & "Mom Beck" Hairston Staley; brothers, Charles "Zeke" Hairston and Gilbert Hairston.

Those who survive to cherish her fond memories are her children, Laura Hairston, East Spencer, NC, Barbara J. Hairston, Spencer, NC, Emma Hunter (Bernard), Harvey (Mary) Archie, Sr., Hazel Chambers all of Salisbury, NC and Reverend Ruby Steele, Spencer, NC; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 3:00 pm with the visitation at 2:30 pm with the pastor, Reverend David Bracken, Officiating and burial in the church cemetery.
