Margaret Wansley Obituary

Margaret T. Wansley, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born May 24, 1937, in Salisbury, North Carolina to the
late Wellington and Ila Coleman, Sr.

Margaret leaves behind a beloved circle of family and friends who
will forever cherish her radiant spirit, unwavering courage, and enduring
love. Her voice which she so beautifully shared through wisdom and song
will be remembered and passed on forever as each note will continue to
resonate comfort, and guidance to all she loved and created a everlasting
bond.

She was a proud graduate of JC Price High School and Livingstone College
where she became a Life Member of the Livingstone College National Alumni
Association. Her passion for education led her to work as a Teacher’s
Assistant in the Salisbury City School System. She was a dedicated employee
of Frito Lay, Inc. and completed her working career caring for senior
citizens and providing compassionate care during their final stages of life.

Mrs. Wansley, was a former member of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church from
childhood through early adult years where she found great joy in
participating in the Cathedral, Gospel, and Visitation choirs. She also
actively served on the Trustee Board, was a Class Leader, a member of the
Lay Council, Anna Houser Overseas Missionary Society, the Flower Committee,
Prison Ministry and volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels and Rowan Helping
Ministries.

In later years, a change in health brought her to live in Winston-Salem
with her son. While there, she joined Great Cleveland Avenue
Christian Church and continued her Christian service through the Community
Choir and Senior Ministry. She also joined the Rupert Bell Singers, a
dedicated group of friends who visited nursing homes in the city offering
hope and encouragement to residents through uplifting spiritual music and
songs. As the years progressed, she found peace and solitude at Faith
Temple Triumphant Ministries, Inc., led by Pastor Dr. Henry C.Diggs.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wansley was preceded in death by her
devoted husbands, Stephen Holt, Sr., Leroy Tucker, James Wansley, and her
eldest son, Stephen Holt, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Ricky D. Holt, Sr., son, (Winston-Salem),
Cleo L. Holt, son, (Salisbury), Rickey D. Holt, Jr. grandson,
(Winston-Salem), and  Arthur “Joe” Coleman, brother, (Washington, DC) and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.


The graveside service for Margaret Wansley will be Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11am. The service will be held at Rowan Memorial Park located at 4125 Franklin Community Center, Salisbury, NC 28144. Rev. Dr. Henry Diggs, officiating/eulogist.
