Marjorie (Fowler) Wilkins Obituary

SALISBURY – Mrs. Majorie F. Wilkins, age 86, of Salisbury, passed Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at Novant Rowan Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Davie County on Feb. 4, 1932 to the late James Fowler and Maggie Payne Fowler. She was a graduate of J. C. Price High School and Rowan Cabarrus Community College, where she pursued studies in nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Salisbury VA Medical Hospital, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. In 2016, she received the J.C. Price Sports Hall of Fame Award for her participation in sports while a student at J. C. Price High School.


She was a member of Soldiers A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the Anna Hauser Missionary Society, and the Deaconess Board. 


She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilkins: a son, William Paul Wilkins Sr.; and sisters, Louise Mayfield and Elizabeth Crawford.


Those who remain to cherish her memory are her sons, Phillip A. Wilkins (Martha) and Kevin Wilkins, all of Salisbury; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.


Services: Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 with visitation at 1 p.m. and funeral at 1:30 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 306 N. Church St., Rev. Dr. Derrick R. Anderson, pastor/eulogist. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd., Salisbury. 


The family will receive visitors at the home of her granddaughter, located at 5970 US Highway 601, Salisbury.  Hairston Funeral Home, Inc., is serving the Wilkins family.
