Mary Charles Moore Adams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 15, 1929, in York County, South Carolina, to the late George Currence and the late Mary L. Jackson Currence, one of six children. Mary was a beacon of light and warmth to everyone she encountered. At the time of her passing, she resided at Laurels Assisted Living in Salisbury, North Carolina, where she was cherished by both staff and fellow residents.
Mary was a woman of deep faith and conviction, whose life was a testament to her Christian beliefs. She attended Central Piedmont College, focusing on Nursing, and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mary was not just a caregiver by profession but by nature, dedicating her life to raising her six children with love and devotion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her home, as she continued working past retirement, assisting Disabled Veterans through a program at the VA Medical Center.
Her community involvement was boundless. Whether volunteering at her church or opening her arms to community services, Mary was always there to lend a hand. She was known for her ability to uplift others, often encouraging those around her to see the brighter side of any situation by reminding them of the goodness of God.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Tracy H. Moore and Samuel J. Adams; sons, Tracy Tyrone Moore and Israel Joseph Moore; and sisters, Haddasa C. Bryson, Wilma C. Walker, Thelma C. Caldwell, Sarah C. Stowe, Gwendolyn C. Plummer; and a granddaughter, Nicole Moore.
She is survived by her children: Thomas Lewis E.C. Moore, Henry Aaron Moore, Harold Jeffery Moore (Muriel), and Mary N. M. Moore,; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends who will continue to carry her legacy forward with the same love and commitment she instilled in them;
Mary's siblings affectionately nicknamed her the "Road Runner" due to her energetic spirit and constant presence at church services and community events.
Her memory will be celebrated in a funeral service at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, located at 719 S. Caldwell St., Salisbury, NC on, Saturday, April 12, 2025. Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Funeral begins promptly at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ruby Steele, officiating. Rev. Sherry Ford, eulogist. Rev. Dr. Roy Dennis, Jr., pastor.
Interment will be held on, Monday, April 14, 2025- 1:30 p.m.at the US National Cemetery, 501 Statesville, Blvd., Salisbury, NC

Public viewing will be held on, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Hairston Funeral Home, 703 S. Main St., Salisbury, NC from 1:00-5:00.
