Palvonia Elizabeth (Hicks) Borders Obituary

Mrs. Palvonia H. Borders, age 86, passed, August 29, 2018 at Brian Center Health & Rehab. She was a native of Lexington, NC. She was born, January 29, 1932 in Rowan County to the late, Tommie Hicks and Wylonia Hairston Hicks. She was a graduate of Price High School and retired from PPG Industries as a fabricator.


She was a faithful member of Buncombe Baptist Church, Lexington, NC, where she served on the culinary and usher ministries.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Borders and a brother, Robert Hoke.


Those who will forever cherish her memory, are sons; Ellie Hicks (Brenda) Decatur, Ga.; and Robert H. Covington, III, Salisbury, NC, six grandchildren, eighteen great-grand children, two great-great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.


Services: Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Buncombe Baptist Church, 539 Hairston Road, Lexington, NC 27295. Rev. Arthur Heggins, eulogist/officiant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Other times, the family will receive visitors at the home of her god-daughter on 421 Grove St., Salisbury, NC
