Our beloved Rachel Ann Wright, age 59 of Winston-Salem, passed, Monday, January 24, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina after a brief illness. She was born on November 23, 1962 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Eva Lee Wright and was reared in the loving home of the late Mennie Green and Gilmer Green. She was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School, Davidson Community College and Catawba College. She was last employed as a private CNA. She enjoyed helping her neighbors in the community by providing transportation when they needed it.
She was of the Christian faith, loved the Lord and was an awesome singer.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a brother, Joe Lewis Wright, Mennie and Gilmer Green, (parent's who raised her) and many other close family members.
Those who remain to forever cherish her loving memory are her children, Rebecca Wright Hairston, Tommy H. Hairston, Jr., both of Salisbury; and Julian Wright; sisters, Jonetha Wright, Lexington, Stacey Moore, Florida, Patty Rose Green, Thomasville, Evelyn Gilley, Lexington, Robin Thomas, Winston-Salem, a brother, Johnnie Green, (Cynthia), Lexington; uncles, aunts, 4 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dearest of friends, Bonnie McCray and Mary Sue Harris.
Memorial service celebrating the life of our beloved Rachel will be held on, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. Rev. Stacy Young, Associate Pastor of Yadkn Star Baptist Church, eulogist/officiant. Masks are required.
