Mr. Richard Benard Phillips, Sr., age 53 of 530 West Horah Street, Salisbury died Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

Mr. Phillips was born May 24, 1956 in Salisbury to Mrs. Katherine Heilig Propst and the late Roosevelt Propst.

He was educated in the public schools of Rowan County. He was a concrete finisher. He was a member of the Church of the Word of God, Spencer.

Those who survive are a wife, Eva mae Troutman Phillips, Winston-Salem, NC; sons, Richard B. Phillips, Jr. (Sherri Muskelly), Shannon Phillips and Marcus Robinson all of Salisbury; daughter, Robin Phillips Jones, Salisbury; mother, Katherine Heilig Propst, Raleigh; brothers, Randolph Phillips (Stephanie), Roosevelt Propst, Jr., L. Propst and Gary Propst all of Salisbury and Thomas Spencer, Brunswick, NC; sisters, Louise Adams (Curtis), Raleigh, Stella Hurd and Peggy Brooker both of Salisbury, Mary Ann Phillips, Greensboro and Mary Barber, China Grove, NC; fourteen grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 3:00 pm and vitiation at 2:30 pm at the Church of the Word of God with the Pastor, Rev. Willie Heilig, officiating.
